Southern Strokes first arrived online in 2008 and had a focus on amateur bisexual, straight and gay guys from the southern USA. Over the years it has changed owners and had periods where it did not update, but recently it has once again sprung to life, so let's have a closer look and see what Southern Strokes has to offer.
The site layout is pretty standard, however the navigation isn’t as obvious as it could be and much of the top menu is dedicated to advertising other sites and cams. Using the browse button does open up the sites content, and you can then find content by scene, model or category. Functionality all seems to work fine and the site does have a search function which is great when trying to navigate a large amount of content. I would point out that even in the members area there is a lot of advertising for other sites which is something a don’t like.
At the time of this review the site had almost 700 video’s, which is an impressive amount of content. The scenes I watched ran for round 20 minutes and each is accompanied by a set good quality downloadable pictures. As with any site that has been around for any length of time older content is not good quality as newer scenes, however this does not impact on viewing pleasure and in general the quality of the scenes is very good they are well filmed. All the videos are dated and at the moment the site appears to be adding a new scene every month. All content is available to stream or download without DRM so you are able to keep them indefinitely.
When it comes to the action this is a tale of two halves. It seems that the focus of the content changes around 2017. Prior to this the scenes were very much focused on the original southern US amateur guys. After this the site evolved into a more generic twink or college guys site. To that end, its probably easier for me to summarise the two distinct types of content.
Older content is certainly much more focused on sexy Southern amateur guys. There is a short intro and conversation with the models before the action gets going. The older content has a mix of solo sessions where the guy jerks off for us and couples who hook up for the first time. While older content is not a crisp and clear as we have become accustomed to the scenes are well filmed and they really showcase the guys as they suck, fuck and jerk off their hard cocks.
Newer content is obviously of a higher quality but we move away from amateur to studio porn. I always try to be balanced in my reviews and while newer content is generally a little lacklustre there are some stand out scenes that I loved. Newer content really doesn’t stand out as anything special on the whole, and with a few exceptions it is more of the generic twink studio porn that is available on numerous other sites. I have to say that Southern strokes is definitely worth exploring as a good value platform with plenty of variety, some very cute guys and a few stand out scenes. But for me the site has a bit of a split personality and does not quite know what it is trying to be.
